Delta 2-androstenone

AKA delta-2-androst-17-one, which is more formally known as 5a-androst-2-ene-17-one. This is probably one of the first compounds besides androsterone and 4-androsterone that is actually DSHEA compliant. Not only is it a metabolite of DHEA (actually it is more directly a metabolite of androsterone) but it is also naturally occurring in game meat. So this compound is already ingested in common diets and is also a metabolite of a preexisting supplement; hence this fits the definition of a supplement by DSHEA completely.

With relation to steroid structure and function this compound's activity is quite simple. By the most basic definition it is a steroid. More specifically it is a pheromone. In vivo it reacts as a prohormone would, but because delta-2-androst-17-one is a preexisting metabolite of DHEA and is also found as an androsterone metabolite on the human skin it can ultimately be called a human pheromone with prohormone like activity. In this case this pheromone converts to another pheromone, 2-androstenol, which is a non-orally active version of Madol AKA Desoxymethyltestosterone. Madol was commercially released by Anabolic Xtreme as Phera-Plex. Delta-2 is closely related to Madol/Desoxymethyltestosterone except for the D ring constituents.

Madol has a 17-OH molecule which is the active form of a steroid, this will bond with the androgen receptor. The methyl group next to the 17-OH protects this from being converted to a 17=O or a ketone at the 17th position. This 17=O is referenced to by the "17-one." This is the inactive form of the steroid. However, the 17-b-HSD enzyme converts delta-2-androst-17-one/5a-androst-2-ene-17-one into 2-androstenol, the active, non-methylated form of Madol. Technically this compound would not be considered a form of Madol, Madol would actually be considered a synthetically modified form of 2-androstenol.

After the conversion we are left with the active steroid 2-androstenol. This compound will not pack the same punch as Madol/Phera-plex. The methyl group in madol increases anabolic and androgenic activity of the compound. Here are some relative comparisons of how Delta-2 compares to Madol:

Methyl-1-Testosterone/1-androstenedione (1-AD)
Methyldienolone/19-Norandrosta-4,9-diene-3,17-dione ("tren" PH)

Considering the Q ratios of Madol and Methyldienolone being most closely related it seems Delta-2 would be most close in strength to 19-norandrosta-4,9-diene-3,17-dione ("tren"). However, the standard dose of "tren" was about 90mg. Standard dose of Delta-2 is 200-400mg. Just from this we can tell that Delta-2 will be weaker than "tren." On PHF (prohormone forums) Pat Arnold claims that 300mgs of Delta-2 will be equivelent to about 25-50mg of 17-methyl-5a-androst-17b-ol AKA Protomax/Protodrol. Considering the max dose of Protomax is about 75mg for 4 weeks as per IBE's recommendation, the max dose of Delta-2 is 400mg for up to 8 weeks as per manufacturer's recommendation, will definitely yield some damn good results. Current logs seemed to yield some pretty good results with minimal sides within the four week time span.

In conclusion, this might be a good replacement for the older boldione compounds. It seems as though it is fairly mild with minimal sides and can be run for decent cycle lengths. It would definitely be a nice stack with any of the stronger methyls out there.
